Summary
The Maintenance Supervisor maintains oversight and hands-on responsibility for facility management including maintenance of the production equipment, building and grounds as well as all preventative maintenance activities. The position has the site maintenance technicians & electrician as direct reports.
Key Responsibilities
· Provide direct leadership and management of the maintenance department.
· Determine and assign work priorities of maintenance personnel.
· Ensure the maintenance group receives the appropriate training for their respective roles.
· Maintain the utility systems, including gas, electric, climate control, water, and lighting.
· Oversee and ensure that the Charlotte site is maintaining the Preventive Maintenance program for all equipment at the facility, to improve equipment performance and reduce unplanned downtime.
· Support the site in complying with all necessary environmental and safety regulations.
· Manage the site contractors that service the facility including, but not limited to, the HVAC, Electrical, Plumbing, Air Compressors, Forklifts, and Hoists.
· Investigate ways to reduce costs by improving the PM program, reducing contractor costs, and other cost savings initiatives.
· Responsible for the repairs & maintenance cost centers pertaining to maintenance and the building to ensure we meet the operating budget.
· Utilize lean management tools to reduce waste.
· Assist all site personnel in operations, R&D, and office staff to ensure that work orders and maintenance activities are being completed on a timely basis.
· Coordinate the maintenance and repair of production equipment based on the production work schedule while maintaining the spare parts inventory of the equipment and writing purchase orders.
Additional Responsibilities and Accountabilities
· Lead/assist continuous improvements and capital projects as needed.
· Provide technical trouble-shooting support where needed.
· Duties assigned by the Engineering Manager that may be relevant to the success of the business.
Key Qualifications/Requirements
· 4 yr. degree preferred. Will accept a minimum 2 yr. degree with an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience.
· Minimum 1-3 yrs. supervisory experience in a manufacturing facility environment, preferably in maintenance management.
· Experience in electrical systems and processes related to controls, motors and drives.
· Experience in PLC and programming a plus
· Excellent problem-solving skills, planning, and attention to detail.
· Excellent communication and report writing skills.
· Ability to motivate others, supervise, train, and manage the maintenance team.
· Proficiency in Word, Excel, and Outlook with experience in an ERP system a plus.
Working Conditions
· Typical work hours are 7am – 4pm, Monday - Friday. There may be times when weekend or after hour work may be required to support the facility.
· This position requires both office work and the ability to work in a manufacturing environment. The position will require frequent sitting during office work and walking or standing for long periods while monitoring equipment and processes on the plant floor.
· The facility is temperature controlled, but you may from time to time be introduced to work in environments that include hot/cold temperatures.
