Job Summary:
Supervises and coordinates patient care activities on assigned shift. Directs professional and non-professional nursing personnel; participates in staff development and evaluation of staff on assigned shift. Assists in direct patient care. Represents department managers and hospital administration in their absence. Participates in other hospital committees and teams as appropriate. Performs other duties as assigned.
What Will You be Doing:
- Supports Bartlett Regional Hospital’s strong commitment to the highest standards of business and professional ethics: Provides services in compliance with all State and Federal laws governing the hospital’s operations; assure confidentiality for patients and staff records and information.
- Supervises and directs the delivery of patient care on assigned shift.
- Plans staffing of oncoming shift/s based on patient census, care needs, and staff competency.
- Demonstrates appropriate management skills and behaviors.
- Assesses staff competency.
- Directs appropriate response to, emergent, life threatening, or safety situations.
- Directs patient care activities in designated circumstances.
- Coordinates/Directs total hospital operations (in absence of managers and/or administration).
- Fosters a climate consistent with continuous quality improvement principles.
Minimum Qualifications for the Job:
- Education: Graduation from an accredited Nursing Program.
- Preferred: Bachelor’s degree in nursing
- Experience: Three (3) years current clinical nursing experience.
- Preferred: Previous supervisory or management experience.
- Certification(s):
- Current State of Alaska Registered Nurse licensure (must meet education requirement(s) for Alaska State licensure).
- Current BLS for Healthcare Provider CPR or CPR/AED for the Professional Rescuer certification.
- Certified Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) by the American Heart Association.
- TEAM/BERT within 90 days of hire.
- NRP within 90 days of hire.
Internal Hires: Pay rate will be determined based on applicable personnel rule or union contract terms.
