Thriving Walnut Creek sports medicine clinic seeks a friendly, reliable, experienced medical assistant to perform primarily back-office duties and some front office duties. Seeking candidate who is eager, honest, compassionate, hard-working, and adaptable, has excellent customer service skills, learns quickly, is self-sufficient and self-motivated. Candidate should have an excellent work ethic and be a skilled multitasker. Additionally, the candidate will need to communicate effectively with patients and physicians alike and work as part of a team. Requirements include experience with: phlebotomy (preferably certified), electronic medical record systems (preferably EPIC) or excellent computer skills and an ability to learn EMR, prior authorizations, health insurance, drawing up injections, setting up and assisting with procedures.
Requirements
Tasks will include:
- Preparing patient rooms
- Housing patients (taking vitals, histories, medication reconciliation, EMR requirements)
- Ensuring all information is ready for patient to be seen by physician.
- Safeguarding patient privacy and confidentiality
- Stocking exam rooms
- Preparing procedure trays including sterile procedures
- Assisting with procedures
- Drawing up injections
- Drawing blood
- Setting up the Ultrasound Machine and positioning for exams and procedures
- Obtaining prior authorizations from health insurers including MRI authorizations
- Brace fitting
- Educating patients on home exercise programs
- Coordinating patients
- Completing forms/paperwork
- Communicating simple results and messages to patients from physicians
- Ordering lab and imaging tests
- Ensuring that physicians have test results for patients being seen.
- Ordering office supplies and managing inventory so supplies do not run out.
- Working on a team to ensure the office runs smoothly.
- Thinking ahead and anticipating office needs
- Scheduling appointments and procedures
- Answering phones
- Scanning medical records and results
- Coordinating and communicating physician referrals
- Learning new tasks as needed
- Other duties as assigned.
This position will be 36-40 hours per week, with working days on Mondays (partial to full hours), Tuesdays, Wednesdays, Thursdays, and Fridays with the possibility of adding additional hours. Must have a flexible schedule to allow for occasional changes. Qualified candidates only.

Compensation will be based on experience
Pay Scale/Ranges:
$16.00-$41.50/hour (and the hourly equivalent for salaried employees).*

The pay scale/ranges shown are representative of the pay rates for the job title reflected above, but an employee's actual pay rate will be determined on a case-by-case basis.
