General Summary:
The Bayhealth Administrative Fellowship program is challenging one-year leadership development program for post-graduate level students who wish to excel in healthcare management. The Administrative Fellow is precepted by the Vice President Physician Services and is mentored by senior leaders and executives through rotations in various areas of the organization. The aim is providing hands-on experience in core functions of healthcare leadership develop a broad understanding of the integrated health system. They will be involved in various meetings, projects and initiatives that support Bayhealth’s strategic plan. They will gain experience in areas of Operations, Budgeting, Finance, Revenue Cycle, and performance improvement. Administrative Fellows are eligible to participate in leadership development courses offered to new Bayhealth leaders. Upon completion of the one-year program, fellows should have gained relevant experience to move into competitive healthcare leader roles.
Responsibilities:
1. Provide a written summary of experiences and key take ways learned at the conclusion of each rotation, as well as provide feedback on how the rotation could be improved
2. Meet regularly and engage with preceptor and mentors to provide all necessary information to ensure a mutually beneficial experience
3. Attend all relevant management and administrative meetings. May be required to provide administrative support for some of these meetings
4. Build relationships throughout the organization and contribute meaningful work through projects and management opportunities
5. Prepare and present information to leadership related to project work
6. Demonstrate attention to detail, consistency and meet deadlines
7. Complete all tasks and projects as assigned by members of the leadership team
8. Model Bayhealth’s Values with all staff, patients, members of the community, and external partners
9. All other duties as assigned within the scope and range of job responsibilities
Required Education, Credential(s) and Experience:
- Education: Bachelor Degree in Health Care or Health Administration; or other related business field; Completion of MBA, MHA, MPH or masters equivalent from an accredited educational institution. Note: Candidates finishing the 2nd year of a program that requires an administrative fellowship after completion of classroom curriculum are eligible to apply. Master Degree pending with fellowship requirement.
