LABORATORY SERVICES MANAGER
Full-Time, Monday-Friday

Essential Job Functions
Leadership & Management:
- Provide strategic direction and leadership to the organization.
- Oversee the training, and performance evaluation of staff providing laboratory services.
- Develop and implement laboratory policies, procedures, and protocols to ensure efficient and high-quality operations.
Quality Assurance & Compliance:
- Ensure compliance with all local, state, and federal regulations, including CLIA, CAP, and OSHA standards.
- Oversee quality control and quality assurance programs to maintain the highest standards of accuracy and reliability in test results.
- Conduct regular audits and inspections to ensure laboratory operations meet regulatory and accreditation standards.
Financial Management:
- Develop and manage the laboratory’s budget, including cost control, and resource allocation.
- Oversee the procurement of laboratory supplies and equipment, ensuring cost-effective purchasing while maintaining quality.
- Monitor laboratory billing and coding practices to ensure accurate and timely reimbursement.
Operational Oversight:
- Oversee the daily operations of the laboratory, ensuring timely and accurate processing of laboratory tests and results.
- Maintain any laboratory information systems (LIS) and other technologies to enhance laboratory efficiency and data management.
- Collaborate with other departments and healthcare providers to optimize laboratory services and support patient care.
Strategic Planning & Development:
- Develop and implement long-term strategies for laboratory growth and development, including the introduction of new technologies and services.
- Stay abreast of industry trends and advancements in laboratory science and incorporate them into laboratory practices.
- Foster a culture of continuous improvement and innovation within the laboratory.
Communication & Collaboration:
- Serve as the primary liaison between the laboratory and external entities, including regulatory agencies, accrediting bodies, and healthcare providers.
- Communicate effectively with senior management, providing regular updates on laboratory performance, challenges, and opportunities.
- Collaborate with clinical teams to align laboratory services with the overall goals of the healthcare organization.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
- Strong leadership and management skills with the ability to motivate and guide a diverse team.
- In-depth knowledge of laboratory operations, regulatory requirements, and quality assurance practices.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with various stakeholders.
- Strong problem-solving abilities and a strategic mindset.
- Proficiency in laboratory information systems (LIS) and other relevant technologies.
Experience and Education Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s in Laboratory Science, Medical Technology, Biology, Chemistry, or a related field.
- Master’s degree preferred.
- A business management degree in addition is advantageous and preferred.
- Certification from a recognized professional body, such as ASCP, or eligibility for such certification.
- Minimum of 3 years of experience in a clinical laboratory setting, with at least 1 year in a management or leadership role.
Employment Requirements:
- Successful completion of background check including criminal record, driving record, abuse/neglect and fingerprint check.
- Completion of New Hire Orientation at the beginning of employment.
- All training requirements including Relias at the beginning of employment and annually thereafter.
- Current driver’s license, acceptable driving record and current auto insurance.
