What are the responsibilities and job description for the Processing Technician II position at BC US LLC?
JOB SUMMARY
The Processing Technician II will work under the direct supervision of the Technical Operations Manager. The ideal candidate will play a role within the processing team and will work in a fast-paced animal vivarium environment performing various processing task on client owned NHPs that include but not limited to TB test, monthly weights, health observations, and blood collection. High attention to detail and the ability to perform data entry task is preferred.
DUTIES/ RESPONSIBILITIES
- Works independently reads and understands relevant guidelines, policies, and SOPs.
- Complies with all regulatory guidelines, occupational health as well as health and safety programs, in accordance with company policies and procedures.
- Conduct daily health observations of NHPs
- Administration of NHP treatments via various routes that include topical, oral, SQ, IV, IM, ID.
- Perform TB test on NHPs per client request and conduct TB reads.
- Perform O&P swab and fecal collection from NHPs
- Monitoring of hospitalized NHPS
- Processing preparation and clean up.
- Ability to safely apprehend NHPs for processing procedures.
- Perform tattooing and microchip insertion for NHP identification
- Observe the behavior and condition of animals
- Provide nursing care or emergency first aid to recovering or injured animals
- Restrain animals during exams or procedures
- Collect and record animals’ case histories
- Administer anesthesia to animals and monitor their responses
- NHP blood collection
- Transfer and relocation of NHPs
- Data entry and inventory management
- Other duties as assigned.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:
- High school diploma or equivalent required
- At least 2 years’ related experience required.
- ALAT or LAT Certification preferred.

- Strength and endurance: Being able to manipulate or lift heavy medical equipment and instruments
- Have experience administering various injection techniques (IV, ID, SQ, and Oral)
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand, kneel and crouch. The employee is occasionally required to climb or balance and stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl. The employee must be able to undergo fit testing for a N95 respirator mask. The employee may be required to lift and/or move up to 50 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus. Additionally, the employee must be able to distinguish colors.
