Our mission is to prepare promising students for meaningful lives as principled leaders. To achieve this, we offer transformational learning experiences through our Outdoor and Leadership Adventures courses.
We are seeking passionate outdoor and leadership mentors to guide students in enriching experiences across designated locations in Utah.
The Outdoor Adventures course is an in-person, experiential PE class offered for students in grades 6–12. Participants engage in hands-on activities such as rock climbing, hiking, canoeing, snowshoeing, skiing, survival skills, first aid, and more.
The Leadership Adventures course focuses on developing students' leadership abilities through immersive, real-world experiences. Students earn elective leadership credit by participating in activities such as visiting museums, going on field trips, completing service projects, and practicing leadership through simulations and group challenges.
As a mentor, you will play a key role in transforming each adventure into a meaningful, growth-centered experience for students. Responsibilities include infusing meaning into adventures, training and preparation, facilitating reflection, coordinating adventures, planning and logistics, event approval, vendor coordination, expense reporting, budget management, on-site leadership, ensuring safety of assigned participants, communicating about site-specific adventure details, and academic coursework and credit.
To be successful in this role, you must have outdoor and leadership experience, ability to provide transformational mentoring to youth, be vulnerable and authentic, show energy and enthusiasm for being in the outdoors and challenging oneself in various settings, pass a background check, and have excellent administrative skills (planning, organizing, communication).
This is a part-time position with most hours taking place on Adventure Fridays during normal school hours. The remainder of the time is flexible throughout the week and includes required trainings that are typically under 2 hours on predetermined Fridays when an adventure is not scheduled.
