Key Responsibilities
- Case Management: Manage a caseload of personal injury files from intake to resolution, ensuring deadlines are met and cases progress efficiently.
- Client Communication: Serve as the primary point of contact for clients, keeping them informed of case updates, answering questions, and providing compassionate support.
- Document Preparation: Draft, review, and file legal documents such as demand letters, pleadings, motions, discovery responses, and settlement agreements.
- Medical Records Management: Request, review, and organize medical records, bills, and reports; summarize records and identify relevant treatment and injuries.
- Investigation: Assist with gathering evidence, including police reports, witness statements, photographs, and other relevant documentation.
- Calendar Management: Maintain the attorneys’ calendars, scheduling depositions, hearings, mediations, and other appointments.
- Discovery Support: Assist with preparing and responding to discovery requests, including interrogatories, requests for production, and requests for admission.
- Settlement Support: Prepare and submit demand packages to insurance companies, negotiate with adjusters, and assist attorneys with settlement evaluations.
- Trial Preparation: Assist with trial preparation, including organizing exhibits, preparing trial binders, and coordinating with witnesses and experts.
Qualifications
- Education: Associate's degree or paralegal certificate required; Bachelor’s degree preferred.
- Experience: Minimum of 3 years of experience as a paralegal, preferably in personal injury law.
- Technical Skills: Proficiency in legal case management software, Microsoft Office Suite, and online legal research tools.
- Communication Skills: Excellent verbal and written communication skills with a strong client-service focus.
- Organizational Skills: Detail-oriented with exceptional organizational skills and the ability to manage multiple tasks and deadlines.
- Knowledge: Solid understanding of personal injury law, including litigation and claims processes, as well as familiarity with state and federal court procedures.
- Interpersonal Skills: Ability to work collaboratively with attorneys, clients, and other team members while maintaining a professional demeanor.
- Problem-Solving: Strong analytical and problem-solving skills to anticipate case needs and resolve issues proactively.
