Key Responsibilities:
- Greet and prepare patients for examination, ensuring a comfortable and professional experience
- Take and record patient history, including medical, ocular, and family history
- Perform pre-testing procedures such as visual acuity, auto-refraction, tonometry, and visual field testing
- Conduct diagnostic imaging (OCT, fundus photography) and other tests as directed by the optometrist
- Assist in contact lens training and education
- Maintain clean and calibrated diagnostic equipment
- Accurately input patient data into the electronic health record (EHR) system
- Support front desk duties when needed, including scheduling and checking patients in/out
- Maintain a clean and organized clinical area following infection control protocols
- Prior experience as an ophthalmic or optometric technician preferred (but willing to train the right candidate)
- High school diploma or equivalent required; additional certification or training in ophthalmic assisting is a plus
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Strong attention to detail and ability to multitask
- Proficient with computers and comfortable learning new software systems (EHR/EMR)
