Bellerive Country Club is seeking a dedicated and engaging Assistant Director of Food and Beverage to join our team.
The Assistant Director of Food & Beverage will be responsible for leading all food and beverage service activities on the Bellerive Country Club campus. The Assistant Director of Food & Beverage will be responsible to lead and uphold the execution of implemented operational service standards to deliver membership excellence for dining and private event services. Coaches, recruits, and leads service-related personnel to ensure that the wants and needs of club members and guests are consistently exceeded. Acts as a partner and leadership extension for the Culinary Team, while routinely providing feedback to the Chef(s), related to food, quality, presentation, and membership service reports.
Bellerive Country Club is a private country club in St. Louis with over 500 members. Founded in 1897, Bellerive underwent a $19 million renovation in 2019/2020 that included a complete refurbishment of the 80,000 square feet clubhouse, the addition of a full-service casual dining facility and private event space, fitness center, and halfway house. Bellerive also includes a professionally staffed and nationally recognized, industry award-winning 18-hole championship golf course, which has hosted several professional golf championships and is scheduled to host the 2026 BMW Championship and 2030 Presidents Cup.
Requirements
- Acts as the “face” of food & beverage and leads by example at all times, including working in a “hands-on” capacity.
- Operates as a synergistic leadership bridge between the Service and Culinary Teams.
- Consults and works with the Food and Beverage leadership team to deliver Membership Service Excellence.
- Always demonstrates professional leadership when faced with challenges and while leading the development of food & beverage personnel, supervisors, and staff via coaching/mentorship.
- Three (3) years of experience in a leadership capacity in the service industry in a retail, club, hotel, fine restaurant, or institutional setting preferred. Prior experience in a private club atmosphere is preferred.
- Maintains F&B operating templates (Labor, Schedules, Expense, Revenue Power Bi) to ensure advanced forecasting to the Director of Food and Beverage.
- Ensures that all standard operating procedures for member food and beverage services are in place and consistently utilized while ensuring proper execution by all staff.
- Ensures that effective departmental orientation and training for new staff, and professional development activities for experienced staff, are planned, implemented, and maintained.
- Ensures that all safety, sanitation, energy management, preventive maintenance, and other standards are consistently met.
- Reviews and gives feedback on menus proposed by the Executive Chef for all services and special events.
- Maintains advanced knowledge of all Club related programming, to be able to act as a leader within the Club.
- Attends to member and guest complaints in a timely and creative manner in pursuit of a superior Club member experience. Advises the Director of Food and Beverage, Executive Chef, and Director of Catering about issues, the appropriate corrective actions taken, and suggestions on how to alleviate future issues.
- Ensures each night shift is closed and the billing is accurate for next-day processing. Communicates with accounting any abnormalities that delay the process.
- Leads all closing procedures for the Club facilities.
- Ensures that the reservation system is properly utilized for member benefit and team member success.
Qualifications / Education:
- High School diploma or equivalent required.
- Three (3) years of experience in a leadership capacity in the service industry in a retail, club, hotel, fine restaurant, or institutional setting preferred. Prior experience in a private club atmosphere is preferred.
- Food safety certification is required.
