Bellerive Country Club is seeking several Tennis Pro Shop Attendants to join our team for the 2023 tennis season. The Tennis Pro Shop Attendant will be responsible for delivering a personalized member experience while meeting the Club standards. Bring their best self to work every day to be the best teammate and employee possible. Provides exemplary service to each Club Member.
Bellerive Country Club is a private country club in St. Louis with over 500 members. Founded in 1897, Bellerive underwent a $19 million renovation in 2019/2020 that included a complete refurbishment of the 80,000 square feet clubhouse, the addition of a full-service casual dining facility and private event space, fitness center, and halfway house. Bellerive’s other amenities include a professionally staffed and nationally recognized, industry award-winning 18-hole championship golf course, which has hosted several professional golf championships and is scheduled to host the 2026 BMW Championship and 2030 Presidents Cup, a professionally staffed state-of-the-art racquets facility with clay and hard courts, pickleball courts, and paddle tennis courts, bocce courts, and an Olympic size swimming pool. Bellerive proudly offers extensive junior programming, including camps, golf, tennis, and swimming lessons, organized and competitive leagues, and onsite childcare.
Requirements
Core Four Competencies:
- Greets members and guests.
- Coordinates court reservations and lessons.
- Accurately check in members and guests.
- Organize, clean, and professionally maintain racquets facility.
Job Responsibilities:
- Ensures that all members and guests receive courteous, prompt, and professional attention to all their tennis needs.
- Answers the tennis pro shop telephone, books lessons, and court times.
- Assists members with equipment selection. Promotes and sells pro shop merchandise.
- Operates the Point-of-Sale system; enters member charges, lesson fees, and merchandise sales; closes out daily sales.
- Maintains a clean and presentable pro shop.
- Performs closing responsibilities; end of the day cleaning and lock up; inventory as needed.
- Assists in the maintenance and grooming of courts after play as needed and necessary.
- Other appropriate tasks as assigned by the Director of Racquets or other members of the Racquets leadership team.
Job Requirements:
- Must have the ability to balance multiple projects and have strong project and time management skills. Must possess high attention to detail.
- Must display an aptitude for working in a fast-paced environment with a demonstrated ability to work autonomously, take direction, and exercise good judgment. Must have the ability to reason and apply common-sense understanding to situations encountered.
- Must have authority to reason and apply common sense understanding to situations encountered.
- Must have a high level of professionalism and interpersonal skills in order to communicate and work well with employees at all levels within the organization and maintain all information in the strictest of confidence. Must use tact and diplomacy when dealing with others.
- Ability to read, write, and communicate fluent English; compose documents in the appropriate business style using correct grammar and spelling; communicate clearly using proper grammar and diction over the telephone.
- Ability to simultaneously process routine daily functions, resolve sensitive issues, and complete complex assignments utilizing above-average critical thinking skills.
- Ability to work overtime as necessary, as well as nights, weekends, and holidays when needed to ensure the appropriate demands of the department.
- The physical demands of this position are representative of those that might be met by an employee for them to successfully perform the essential functions of the position. These include being both mobile and stationary throughout the workday and having the ability to transport fifty (50) pounds.
Qualifications / Education:
- High School Diploma or equivalent, or in the pursuit thereof required.
- Prior tennis knowledge is preferred.
