What are the responsibilities and job description for the School Counselor position at Bennington-Rutland Supervisory Union?
Bennington-Rutland Supervisory Union is seeking an innovative, dynamic, and energetic School Counselor to work with elementary/middle school students at The Dorset School (0.60 FTE) and Sunderland Elementary School (0.40 FTE). This position is a 1.0 FTE split between two schools in the district. The School Counselor will join a team of collaborative and enthusiastic staff, dedicated to helping students achieve their fullest potential. The successful candidate should possess a wide depth of knowledge and skills needed to implement a comprehensive, results-based school guidance program.
In this role, the School Counselor partners with teachers, support staff, families, and administrators to cultivate learning environments that promote educational equity and success for every student. The School Counselor ensures equitable access to resources that promote academic achievement and personal/social development in a variety of settings.
Applicants are expected to have knowledge in current instructional research and evidence-based instructional practices. Applicants are also expected to demonstrate a deep understanding of the barriers to student learning and possess the skills to close the information, opportunity, and achievement gaps through data-driven school counseling practices and use of advocacy. Strong candidates will demonstrate a student-centered approach, exemplary oral and written communication skills, and strong relationship building skills with students.
