What are the responsibilities and job description for the PHYSICIAN EXTENDER position at Bienville Orthopaedic Specialists?
Essential Job Responsibilities:
Practices under protocol established for the Nurse Practitioner role consistent with organization policy and in accordance with requirement set forth by the Mississippi Board of Nursing.
Conducts age-appropriate assessments of patients, including taking medical history and physical examination. Reviews medical record for follow up or ordering of diagnostic studies according to established protocols.
Consults with supervising physician or other clinicians as dictated by patient need and assessment findings.
Participates with physicians and other clinicians in the department to assure operational efficiency and effectiveness and to promote consistency and continuity of care.
Establishes effective working relationships with members of the clinical team, patients, and families.
Delegates appropriately and coordinates duties/activities of clinical team members.
Performs other duties as assigned.
Education and Experience: Master of Science in Nursing; current license to practice Nursing in the state of MS; current license to practice as an Advanced Practice Nurse in the state of MS; current prescriptive authority in the State of MS; 2-5 years’ experience as a Nurse Practitioner preferred. Experience in orthopedics or musculoskeletal specialty is preferred.

Ability to communicate effectively, with excellent verbal and written communication skills.
Must be able to build and maintain effective working relationships with employees throughout the organization. Must be able to demonstrate a strong sense of customer focus.
Must be able to demonstrate the ability to work independently within interpretive guidelines and perform effectively in a fast-paced and constantly changing environment.
Must be able to travel to all clinic locations, as needed.
