POSITION SUMMARY: Receptionists are expected to provide exceptional customer service while greeting and directing guests and visitors in person or by phone.

POSITION REQUIREMENTS:
- Relate positively with diverse groups of people, including guests, staff, volunteers and vendors.
- Must have a strong work ethic and be detailed oriented.
- Must be able to work independently and as part of a group.
- Ability to plan, organize and handle multiple tasks as necessary.
- Must be able to adapt to changing assignments, environment and maintain a positive attitude.
- Comply with all Binder Park Zoo policies and procedures.
- Prior receptionist experience using a multi-line phone system.
- Basic math skills for purposes of cash handling.
- Computer, Microsoft Word and Excel experience.
- Excellent interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work a flexible schedule including evenings, weekends and holidays.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Answering and directing telephone calls using a multi-line phone system.
- Providing guests and callers with general information about the zoo.
- Basic computer, cash register and credit card machine operations.
- Performs essential functions of registration and sales related to programs, memberships, adopts etc.
- Managing incoming/outgoing mail and packages
- Provides duties related to the zoo’s Lost and Found program.
- Serving as liaison between staff and emergency personnel when necessary.
- Performs essential cleaning and disinfecting tasks of lobby and immediate work area.
OTHER DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Know and practice safe work procedures and report all unsafe conditions to supervisor.
- Participating in individual and team oriented zoo projects as needed.
- Monitoring and reporting with regular inspections the maintenance of buildings, equipment and property.
- Management reserves the right to train and direct the workload as needed.
PHYSICAL AND ENVIRONMENTAL DEMANDS:
- Ability to sit for extended periods of time.
- Ability to read, speak and write English in order to fulfill job functions in an understandable way.
Salary : $23,600 - $29,900
