POSITION SUMMARY :
This role is responsible for assisting the Director of Operations in overseeing SkyLark Ridge general operations including, but not limited to, pre and post-use inspections of the course and safety equipment, supervision and training of Ropes Course Operators and maintaining accurate and detailed records on equipment and inspections. Coordinators will have additional daily duties to further support the operations of the ropes course including opening and closing, proper staffing levels, and ongoing staff training.
POSITION REQUIREMENTS :
Minimum of 18 years of age.
Employment is contingent upon passing a multi-day Sky Guide training course.
At least one year of guest service management experience preferred.
Supervision, assessment and training experience of staff preferred.
Demonstrated experience and knowledge in guest service, hospitality or related field.
Ability to predict and solve problems quickly and efficiently.
Relate positively with diverse groups of people, including guests, staff, volunteers and vendors.
Must have a strong work ethic and be detailed oriented.
Must be able to adapt to changing assignments, environment and maintain a positive attitude.
Ability to work independently and to plan, organize and handle multiple tasks as necessary.
Must maintain an open availability and be able to work up to 36 hours a week including evenings, weekends and holidays on a flexible schedule as demanded by guest and company needs.
Basic math and general computer skills are necessary.
Basic computer and cash register skills are necessary.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND RESPONSIBILITIES :
Successful completion of written and practical tests for operator certification.
Works with Director of Operations to identify any safety or procedural concerns that may arise.
Maintain guest safety as a top priority.
Ensures the safety of all guests and staff on the structure at all times.
Maintains safety and cleanliness standards.
Ensures daily, weekly, monthly course and safety equipment inspections are completed.
Maintains impeccable documentation of safety inspections.
Supervises guests and staff using SkyLark Ridge.
Must be able to communicate with staff and guests clearly.
Comfortable being in close proximity to people of all ages and genders.
Express appropriate behavior towards customers and guests.
Constantly monitors all areas to ensure efficient and effective service.
Provide immediate guest service recovery when needed.
Use competence to assess the difference between a medical emergency and non-emergency incident for purposes of the emergency take down procedures.
Provide assistance to all work areas requiring supervisory attention, including guest concerns, supply orders and general questions from guests and team members.
Possess excellent communication skills.
Provide support, when needed, by working in all positions.
Serve as a liaison between management and seasonal Ropes Course Operators staff.
Serve as an exemplary role model in behavior, performance and work ethic.
Train, mentor and guide new and seasoned staff.
OTHER DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES :
Assisting staff in emergency situations as necessary.
Performing monthly safety checks including first aid, eyewash stations and fire extinguishers.
Ensuring compliance with all Binder Park Zoo policies and procedures.
Participating in individual and team oriented zoo projects as needed.
Maintains strict confidentiality.
SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES :
Directing a diverse staff of up to 30 Ropes Course Operators.
PHYSICAL AND ENVIRONMENTAL DEMANDS :
As an outdoor job, coordinators are expected to work outside in all weather conditions May through October.
The job requires standing for a long period of time, traversing our 36’, 3-story course multiple times a day, and being comfortable working in close contact with people of all ages and genders.
The job will be physically demanding at times as individuals in the role must be able to bend, stoop, climb and stand for long periods of time.
Must be willing to work at heights of 30’ or more for extended periods of time.
Ability to lift and carry up to 50 lbs.
Ability to read, speak and write English in order to fulfill job functions in an understandable way.
