Job Title: Curriculum Development Specialist
Department: Training Fund
Reports To: Senior Manager, Program Development
Summary:
Conduct classroom observations focused on student-centered teaching and learning for Industrial, Academic and Computer classes across multiple sites at the Building Service Workers’ Training Program under guidance of the Instructor Development Manager. Work with Professional Development Coordinator and Curriculum Team to realize instructional projects.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Perform instructor observations across multiple sites
- Deliver instructor training post-observations as necessary (in person, video, etc.)
- Facilitate in-person and remote workshops, and other professional development
- Work on curricula at direction of Curriculum Team
- Communicate with department members concerning day to day activities via email
Other Duties and Responsibilities:
- Provide assistance in testing and counseling incoming students
- Perform additional duties as assigned
Qualifications and Core Competencies:
- Center for Applied Linguistics BEST Plus certified
- Excellent communication skills: verbal and written
Technical Skills:
- A demonstrated capability to manipulate and use multiple software programs and macros simultaneously including Zoom, Excel, Microsoft Word, Windows applications and other web based related sources, familiarity with eLearning
Interpersonal Skills:
- Ability to work independently as well as work as a member of a team
- Detail oriented with excellent organizational and analytical skills
- Ability to prioritize work and meet deadlines
- Ability to provide feedback to instructors in a motivating manner
- Compassionate, collaborative approach
Education and/or Experience:
- Bachelor’s Degree
- 5 years of ESL teaching experience
- Experience in Adult Education
Language Skills: Speak, read, write and understand English. Communicate in Spanish to support BEST testing.
Reasoning Ability: High
Certificates, Licenses, and Requirements: TESOL Certificate or equivalent, valid NYS driver license, personal car to travel to observations
Schedule: 35 hours per week - flexible including approximately 2 Saturdays per month on average
