Tasting Room Sales Associate

Position Overview 

• Are you a natural storyteller who loves working with people? Are you passionate about Virginia wines? This is an exciting opportunity to grow your retail sales career in the wine industry.    Associates share our wines and conversation with our guests.  This position is right for you if you are reliable, have an outgoing personality, love all the charms of farm life, thrive in a fast-paced environment, and enjoy connecting with others!

• What we are looking for: We are seeking a motivated person who wants to grow with our winery. We seek a go-getter who isn’t afraid to build new relationships, has a heart of hospitality and can turn it on for guest experiences in person. Ability to problem solve independently, attentive to detail, good communication skills and desire to learn new skills is HUGE. A friendly, positive attitude and honesty is a must. Any additional skills you bring are welcome!  

• This is a part-time opportunity, with mostly weekend and holiday hours.

Responsibilities 

• Welcome guests to Bluemont Vineyard for tastings, guide exceptional experiences and provide thoughtful and relevant follow-up.
• Create delightful, engaging, and educational wine experiences that make customers want to join our Club and Community.
• Actively strive to reach wine sales and wine club sign-up goals.
• Foster genuine relationships with members and guests, sharing Bluemont Vineyard’s story and brand.
• Lead with integrity by supporting team members and helping raise up the whole team
• Maximize productivity during slower times to help keep the tasting room clean, and orderly and set the team up for success.  
• Stay up to date on current promotions, sales initiatives, and specials to share with guests by reading monthly and weekly staff communications and asking questions.
• Perform other duties that may be assigned by the Tasting Room Manager of the Day

Qualifications/Experience

• Love of sharing wine & conversation
• Preferred:  1 years experience in the hospitality industry.  Wine knowledge and willingness to learn more.
• Bring your great attitude & we can train you on the wines & our farm story
• Tasting room, fine dining or other hospitality experience: 1 year (Preferred) 
• Self-driven, natural instinct to look for ways to contribute and improve
• Professional, reliable, punctual, with an upbeat demeanor
• Ability to work with others to achieve common goals
• Ability to multi-task and follow-up with customers when pouring for multiple groups
• Flexible schedule, mainly weekend availability
• Valid Driver’s License and/or reliable transportation
• Be able to actively stand or walk for extended periods of time
• Be able to carry a full case of wine up (40 lbs)
• 21 years or older.
