What are the responsibilities and job description for the Special Education Secretary - School Year position at Bourne Public Schools?
Reports to: Director of Student and Special Education Services/Principal/Assistant Principal Job Goals: To expedite the daily workings of the Special Education Services Department office, dealing with Central Administration, students, teachers, and parents, under the direction of the Director of Student and Special Education Services, Assistant Special Education Department Head Grades PreK-5, in such fashion as to provide maximum facilitation of the special education process. Responsibilities: Serve as receptionist in the Intermediate and Elementary School Special Education Student Services Office.Type all correspondence for Special Education Department Head.Type purchase orders as needed. Maintain Office Supplies. Maintain all active special education files for the Intermediate.
Maintain all active special education working files for the Elementary school. Prepare, type, and mail meeting notices for preK-5 special education students. Maintain special education meeting schedule board for grades PreK - 5. Prepare special education progress reports for grades PreK-5 to be attached to report cards.
Keep special education information updated on computer database. Shred inactive special education files as needed and mandated by the Department of Education. Provide assistance to special education student services staff as needed. Maintain professional confidentiality in all matters.
Answer phone and greet people in a friendly and courteous manner. Perform other duties as assigned by the Director of Student and Special Education Services, Intermediate School and Elementary School Special Education Department Head, PreK-5 Special Education Department Head, and Principal/Assistant Principal.Qualifications: Successful completion of high schoolFacility with word processing and general computer usageCompletion of business school/college courses desirableExperience with secretarial work desirable Evaluation: Performance will be evaluated annually in writing by the appropriate administrator.
