What are the responsibilities and job description for the Watersports/Tiki Boat Captain position at Breakwater Adventures?
OUPV required, Master's License preferred. Subsidized housing available.
Nor’Banks has several captain roles available. Candidates may prefer a single role or rotate between positions based on experience and interest. We operate a diverse fleet from one waterfront location, giving captains variety throughout the season.
Watersports Captain – Wake / Ski / Tubing Charters
This captain runs private tow-sport charters for families and groups. You should be comfortable driving while towing, coaching beginners, and creating a fun, safe experience—especially for kids and first-timers. Patience and an upbeat personality are important here. Experience with wakeboarding and waterskiing instruction is a strong plus.
Tiki Charter Captain – Calypso
This captain runs our 30-passenger tiki charter vessel. You set the tone for the trip. This role is about personality, energy, and crowd awareness as much as boat handling. You should be comfortable talking to groups, reading the vibe, and keeping the energy up while keeping things safe and professional.
Shuttle Captain
Shuttle captains move guests to and from parasailing and tiki cruises throughout the day. This role requires constant awareness, efficiency, and strong boat handling around docks and traffic. You keep trips moving smoothly and safely on a tight schedule.
Parasail Captain (optional role)
For captains with experience or interest in learning—assist our lead parasail captain or train for the industry. This is a highly coordinated operation requiring communication, awareness, and comfort running a system as part of a team. Training is available for the right candidate.
Captains are responsible for the daily care, cleanliness, and readiness of their vessels. Mechanical aptitude is a plus.

Nor'Banks is one of the largest sailing centers and watersports locations on the East Coast, but we still run like a small family business. We love to take advantage of all the watersports at our disposal. With an apartment down the road in Kill Devil Hills, you'll be in the perfect spot to sail, wakeboard and boat on the sound, and a short walk to the Atlantic for world-class beaches and a great surf break.
Ideal candidates will have experience with wakeboarding and waterskiing, but we are willing to train the right person to teach beginner lessons. We are particularly interested in people that want to contribute to a fun and friendly atmosphere. We look forward to hearing from you!
