Why you should apply: As a Wellness Specialist, you will be a member of the multi-disciplinary Community Support Services team, who provides resource development, skill development and direct support to assist people who have serious mental illness who are enrolled in CSS to fully integrate into the community of their choice.  The work is sometimes challenging and always rewarding by engaging with persons we serve and co-workers as we all learn, grow, and thrive. 

Roles and Responsibilities of the  Wellness Specialist:

• Work with the team leaders to ensure smooth functioning of team processes and provision of services
• Perform evidence-based practices that are appropriate for implementing community support services. This may include Motivational Interviewing, Cognitive Behavioral and Educational Strategies, Trauma Informed Care, Permanent Supportive Housing, IMR, and WRAP.
• Mental health education, community living skill training, and supportive counseling in the home and other natural environments to person served and significant others
• 24-hour on-call coverage on a rotating schedule

Required Qualifications:  

• Associate degree in one of the helping professions, such a social work, human services, counseling, psychiatric rehabilitation, psychology, or criminal justice, from an accredited college or university and will have a minimum of two years of experience in a community-based behavioral healthcare setting. Certification as a psychiatric rehabilitation practitioner may be substituted for one year of experience. Staff employed under this subsection cannot supervise others and shall work under the supervision of a licensed physician, psychiatrist, psychologist, advanced practice nurse, registered nurse, or master’s level community support staff.
• Bachelor's or Master's degree from an accredited college/university in one of the helping professions, such as social work, human services, counseling, psychiatric rehabilitation, psychology, or criminal justice.
• Individuals with a Bachelor’s degree only in a field other than a helping profession will have a minimum of two years of professional experience in a community behavioral health care setting.
• Certification as a Psychiatric Rehabilitation Practitioner may be substituted for one year of experience.
