What are the responsibilities and job description for the Lead Direct Support Professional position at Broadstep Behavioral Health,Inc?
SUMMARY: The Lead DSP assumes a leadership role within the group home. They are responsible for the day to day operations of the home. The Lead DSP will ensure all daily activities pertinent to the group home including proper staffing of the home, cleaning the environment, individual hygiene support, engagement in therapeutic activities, medication administration and the completion of all documentation and communications needed to support each individual’s desired outcome of treatment.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Implement the Individual Service Plan and Behavior Intervention Plan for each individual served at all times;
- Ensure overall therapeutic environment is available to individuals in our care (environment is safe without hazard of injury and individuals’ rights are respected);
- Complete daily cleaning, housekeeping and restocking of supplies during each shift to include proper documentation for all work completed;
- Ensures the Structured Therapeutic Program Schedule is created and implemented;
- Ensure medication is administered as ordered; communicate any issues with compliance or medication administration with primary nurse and program supervisor;
- Complete all shift medication administration duties to include following all seven (7) administration rights as trained;
- Facilitate medical appointments and follow ups as needed;
- Document all attempts for individual participation in daily activities, treatment and medication administration on the approved program progress note format prior to the end of each shift using (1) Progress Notes; (2) Medication Administration Record (during each administration); (3) Healthcare and Behavioral Incident Reports (upon occurrence); (4) Monitoring Forms (upon occurrence);
- Ensure the dietary guidelines of the Nutritionist-approved program menu are met daily;
- Ensure the house is adequately stocked with food and necessary supplies;
- Oversee the group home’s budget/monies for Food, Supplies, and Activities with timely submission of all receipts;
- Participates in reporting all shift activities and individual health status summary to the incoming staff using the daily clinical report meeting prior to leaving the program;
- Ensure proper staff coverage ratio is in place prior to leaving the program;
- Attend all mandatory team/program meetings;
- Resolve/repair all damaged or non-functioning company property. If unable to resolve/repair, complete and submit a Maintenance Request Form;
- Actively engage in positive, intermittent communication with guardian(s), family, employees, and referents by telephone and/or face-to-face;
- Follow the required order of notification and immediately report any event of suspected, witnessed or reported abuse, neglect, exploitation or misappropriation. Participate in all stages of an investigation pertaining to alleged/suspected abuse and comply with all external investigations or inspections.
- Cooperate with the licensee and Department of Human Services staff in any inspection, inquiry or investigation; and
- Complete additional duties as assigned.
SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Indirectly supervises and trains the employees within the assigned group home(s).
QUALIFICATIONS:
- High school diploma or general education degree (GED), or one to three months related experience and/or training, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
