What are the responsibilities and job description for the CDL Training & Safety Coordinator position at Brunswick County?
Brunswick County is currently accepting applications for a Commercial Driver License (CDL) Training and Safety Coordinator to join our Risk Management Team. Under supervision, the CDL Training and Safety Coordinator conducts CDL training and performs safety-related work that directly supports Brunswick County Public Utilities.
The main focus of this position is to ensure that Utility Department personnel are trained and certified as CDL operators and meet all safety objectives (as defined by county, state and federal safety guidelines) while performing their duties. Work involves planning, coordinating, and overseeing training events (with a focus on CDL training) to include classroom instruction and behind the wheel training (range and road), and ensuring compliance with Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration (FMCSA) requirements for certification and testing of employees. The CDL Training and Safety Coordinator will also be responsible for preparing a variety of reports and maintaining records as related to the safety program within Public Utilities. Must exercise initiative and independent judgment in completing assignments.
This position is considered an ESSENTIAL EMPLOYEE POSITION under County policy and will be required to work to maintain essential operations during inclement weather, non-emergency closure, and/or closure due to a state of emergency/county disaster. This position reports directly to the Safety Officer.
