What are the responsibilities and job description for the Tax Preparer position at Bushman Accounting?
Our CPA firm is looking for a tax preparer to join our growing firm and be a great addition to our team!
The position is full-time (32 hours per week). Our preference is to find someone with a year or two of tax preparation and/or bookkeeping experience, but we are willing to train the right candidate. We offer a very flexible work schedule. We adapt our work schedules to create the best work-life balance possible for our team.
Team members will help prepare individual, partnership, S-corporation, and trust returns each year. You will also be involved in other accounting projects such as monthly/quarterly accounting, tax planning and projections, and other specialized financial projects year-round.
The team member will be responsible for communicating in a professional and helpful manner with clients, be able to clearly explain tax positions and opportunities, be proactive in helping clients meet deadlines, and have the clients’ best interests in mind.
A candidate must be highly organized as they will be managing dozens of tax returns and other projects at a time. Being able to work efficiently, be self-motivated, able to prioritize projects, resolve issues, and work well in a team environment.
Duties will include, but are not limited to:
- Tax preparation, including individual, partnership, S-corporation, and trust tax return preparation.
- Working with clients on reconciling their balance sheet during the tax prep process, fixed assets & depreciation, reconciling equity accounts, multi-state apportionment, and overseeing the tax process from start to finish.
- Communicate directly with clients on outstanding questions, tax planning opportunities, and ensure that final journal entries are posted and reconciled into the client’s accounting system.
Requirements:
- Bachelor’s and/or Master’s Degree in Accounting preferred
- Enrolled Agent, CPA or CPA Candidate a large plus
- Several years of tax preparation experience preferred but we are willing to train if needed.
- Experience with UltraTax a plus.
- Able to work a minimum of 40 hours during the busy seasons (January – April and August - October) preferred
