What are the responsibilities and job description for the School Nurse - Public Health Nurse II position at Cabarrus Health Alliance?
Hours: 40 hours per week following the 10 - month school calendar
Hiring Range: $29.00-$31.00
The School Nurse assumes the role of provider regarding student health care, planning and coordination of the school health program at an assigned school. The school nurse functions independently and must demonstrate autonomy in decision-making and practice.
Primary Responsibilities:
- Provides illness, injury assessments, interventions and follow-up
- Develops and implements individualized health and emergency action plans
- Promotes health and wellness
- Provides identification, assessment, planning, interviewing and evaluation of student health concerns
- Maintains and documents student medical records
- Cooperates with school personnel in identifying and meeting social, emotional and physical needs of students
- Provides case management for students with complex needs
Education/Experience:
- Minimum three years of pediatric, public health or relevant nursing experience
- Five years of total nursing experience
- BSN strongly preferred
License:
- Valid license to practice as a Registered Nurse in North Carolina
- Current CPR
- National Certification in School Nursing required within three years of employment
Skills/Abilities/Knowledge:
- General knowledge and skill in the application of nursing theory, practices, principles and techniques employed in the field of public health and related programs
- Working knowledge of current social and economic problems relating to healthcare and of available resources and organizations
- Ability to deal tactfully with others and to exercise good judgement in appraising situations and making decisions
- Accurately document, interpret and explain records, reports and medical instructions
- Ability to plan, coordinate and supervise the work of others
- Possess ability to secure the cooperation of clients to elicit needed information and to maintain effective working relationships
