What are the responsibilities and job description for the Roofing & Solar Inspector / Site Surveyor position at Cable's Roofing & Solar?
Cable's Roofing and sister company, Cable’s Solar & Energy, is looking for a Roofing Inspector and Solar Site Surveyor to join our team in our Tyler, Texas office. The Inspector/Surveyor will receive leads/appointments requiring potential roof and/or solar needs. Inspector/Surveyor will analyze their roofing, solar and other energy savings needs, including measuring roofs, identifying components, and taking photographs. We prefer applications from candidates that have either technical roofing/solar experience or the technical side of roofing/solar sales (diagnosing storm damage and other forms of damage, measuring roofs, developing work scope, estimating, bidding, solar site surveys and energy consumption analysis). However, we will train those who do not have that experience.
The ideal candidate may have prior experience in roofing or solar fields, but must have strong multitasking ability, and excellent follow-up skills. He/she will be an expert communicator, good customer service skills and very presentable in front of customers.
Responsibilities:
- With personal and company leads –
- Roofs: Identify customer’s concerns and roof issues, diagnosing damage and needs. Climbing on roofs and/or using drone to find problems such as hail and other storm damage, wear, etc., detailing findings with photos and measurements. In some cases developing estimates for roof replacements and repairs along with alternative solutions when available. Ability to read and understand insurance claim settlements, scope of work and when supplements are needed are big pluses. Hand off to sales rep.
- Solar: Identify whether a property is a good candidate for solar energy and other energy saving products/services. Conduct site survey, obtain customer’s energy bill history and do an energy analysis. Hand off to sales rep.
- Reporting – Maintain daily Key Performance Indictors (KPI) of activities, including leads, contacts, inspections, follow-ups, lost business and any other issues. KPI's are reported to the sales manager and or production manager.
Requirements:
- Experience as roofing technician, sales or estimating (may qualify for training if needed)
- Experience with solar installation, site survey or solar sales (may qualify for training if needed)
- Excellent interpersonal and customer service skills
- Proven organizational skills and demonstrable attention to detail
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
- Ability to function well in fast-paced environments
- Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite
Compensation:
We have various programs, both as W-2 employee and 1099 independent contractor with negotiable compensation based on your qualifications.

Salary : $40,000 - $80,000
