Overview :

The California Center for Civic Participation (CalCenter) is dedicated to empowering communities through youth civic engagement, with a focus on creating opportunities for youth to influence public policies that impact their lives. We are a team of two seeking a passionate and motivated Community Impact Coordinator to enhance and expand our youth engagement and programming efforts.

Key Responsibilities :

  • Youth Engagement and Programming :
  • Design, coordinate, and facilitate youth-centered programs and workshops focused on civic participation and leadership.
  • Collaborate with schools, youth organizations, and community partners to recruit participants and develop meaningful programming.
  • Mentor and support youth participants, fostering their growth as community leaders.
  • Community Partnerships :
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with local organizations, government agencies, and community stakeholders to amplify program impact.
  • Coordinate community events that promote civic participation and awareness among youth and their families.
  • Program Development and Evaluation :
  • Identify emerging community needs and recommend programming enhancements to address them.
  • Develop tools to measure program effectiveness and regularly report outcomes to stakeholders and funders.
  • Administrative Duties :
  • Support the Executive Director and assist with broader organizational operations as needed.
  • Manage program budgets, track expenses, and ensure alignment with organizational goals.
  • Help develop and maintain the organization’s social media presence, including creating and scheduling posts to promote programs and events.
  • Maintain detailed records of activities, participants, and program outcomes.

Qualifications :

  • Bachelor’s degree in social sciences, public administration, education, or related field, or equivalent experience.
  • Experience in youth programming, civic engagement, or community organizing (minimum 2 years preferred).
  • Strong communication and facilitation skills, with the ability to engage diverse youth populations effectively.
  • Familiarity with California’s civic and political landscape is a plus.
  • Proficiency with major social media platforms and content creation software is an asset. Including but not limited to Google, Microsoft, Canva, Adobe, Zoom, Slack, etc.
  • Ability to work flexible hours, including occasional evenings and weekends, as needed.
