Job Description And Duties
Under the administrative direction of the Chief Technology Innovation Officer, the incumbent plans, organizes, and directs the work of the section responsible for developing data products to inform policy decisions. The Section Chief will work closely with the Branch Chief, Enterprise Data Operations (EDO), Information Security Office, Enterprise Applications Branch, and Privacy & Compliance Officer. The Section provides programmatic insight and analysis for the development of accurate, reliable, data-driven responses, recommendations, and solutions requested by DDS management, the Legislature, control agencies, stakeholders, and the public. Work with stakeholders to define requirements. The incumbent will align staff activities with these customer requirements, provide analytical, and technical leadership to the team, and ensure that the quality and timeliness of deliverables from the Section are consistently accurate and on schedule. The incumbent will also perform expert determination de-identification, supervise the Expert Determinations by Statistical De-Identification Experts on the team, and provide final approval prior to release. The position requires a strong IT and data analysis background. The section Chief Supervises Staff of a medium-sized technical section of data analysis staff, along with additional consultants as needed. The position might be assigned to work on other projects, such as Business Intelligence and Artificial Intelligence tools for DDG.
This position is eligible to participate in DDS’ hybrid telework schedule. Participation in telework is subject to DDS’ guidelines.

Department Information
The California Department of Developmental Services (DDS) is the agency through which the State of California provides services and supports to individuals with developmental disabilities.
These disabilities include intellectual disability, cerebral palsy, epilepsy, autism and related conditions. Services are provided through state-operated developmental centers and community facilities, and contracts with 21 nonprofit regional centers. The regional centers serve as a local resource to help find and access the services and supports available to individuals with developmental disabilities and their families.
The DDS Is Located In a Modern, Sustainable And Innovative Office Building At 1215 “O” Street, Sacramento, California. Some Amenities Of The Building Include:

Working Conditions
- Prolonged periods on a personal computer up to 95% of the time.
- Occasional travel up to 10% for overnight or day trips.
