Job Summary
Under the direction of the Senior Manager for Payroll Services, the Payroll Technician II processes and works as a member of the Payroll Services team responsible for managing the hiring process of international students, submitting fringe benefit and fee waiver information for processing, ensuring the Accounts Receivable process is completed in line with State regulations, and managing the direct deposit enrollment process. Also acts as backup for employment verification/PSLF forms.
Key Responsibilities
- Processing of international employees. Ensures proper paperwork is provided, completes worksheets and sends to Tax Analyst. Ensures proper tax entry. Monitors visa expiration dates for campus and employee tax treaty status. Prepares reports for Chancellor's Office according to deadlines.
- Managing Fringe Tax reporting process. Assembles information received from Tax Analyst, assists with preparation of Fringe benefit worksheets, to include Fee Waiver tax information, submits to SCO within deadline parameters.
- Backup and Subject Matter Expert for Employment Verifications and Public Service Loan Forgiveness forms. Assists Payroll Tech with questions regarding the PSLF forms and employment verifications for CO and Long Beach.
- Reviews, enters, and submits direct deposit forms to State Controller's Office. Also prepares paperwork, enters and submits fringe information to the State Controller's Office.
- Audits hourly payroll (Casual and Intermittent employees) each month to ensure accuracy and completeness
- Accounts Receivable process management. Reviews A/Rs that are received from the SCO, manages communication to employees and SCO, communicates with Campus Cashier's Office, manages year end submission process to Franchise Tax Board for collections, ensures that all State rules regarding Accounts Receivables are followed.

- Ability to synthesize information and understand when to seek assistance of other staff in answering questions.
- Knowledge (or ability to learn) software programs: PeopleSoft HR, Internet Explorer, Word, Outlook, Excel, PIMS/Key Master.

Education and Experience
Equivalent to two years of experience in preparing and processing payroll/personnel documents required. Bachelor’s degree in related field preferred.
Experience with similar job duties preferred.
Position will need to work at the CSULB Payroll Office location 3 - 4 days per week regularly, except during peak periods when 5 days per week is needed in the office. Remote work is possible 1 - 2 days per week. Ability to work remotely is subject to change.

Compensation
CSU Classification Salary Range: $3,505 - $6,005 per month. Salary placement is determined by the education, experience, and qualifications the candidate brings to the position, internal equity, and the hiring department’s fiscal resources.

Time Base
Full-time temporary position for one year with no permanent status granted. Temporary assignments may expire prior to the ending date.
