Position Summary
Under the general direction of the Disability Access Center (DAC) Associate Director, the incumbent serves as the DAC Subject Matter Expert (SME) for assistive technology, providing direct assessment, approval, and training on university hosted assistive technologies to qualified students with disabilities. This position also serves as the university SME related to the DAC’s case management software, providing direct support to disabled students, as well as the faculty and staff who support and serve them.
Work includes project management related to maintaining and/or updating assistive technology, analyzing and researching software applications, and developing/implementing proactive solutions to ensure students have access necessary to effectively participate in their academics.
FLSA: Exempt (Not eligible for overtime compensation)
Anticipated Hiring Range: $6,250 per month - $6,395 per month

Minimum Qualifications
To enter this classification, a basic foundation of knowledge and skills in technical information systems and application program packages is a prerequisite. This foundation would normally be obtained through a bachelor’s degree in computer science, information systems, educational technology, communications, or related fields, or similar certified coursework in applicable fields of study. Foundation knowledge and skills for the Information Technology Consultant, depending on the nature of the position assignment, may include working knowledge of common software application packages, equipment platforms, reference database systems and sources, and training methods and a basic understanding of networks, data communication, and multimedia systems.
Required Qualifications
- Extensive and in-depth knowledge of and ability to apply expertise in the advanced theories, principles, methods and practices associated with assistive technology and its integration with documents, learning management systems and tools, and other media platforms.
- Substantial and broad knowledge of public and private entities related to various types of assistive technologies, media, and web accessibility including Sac State’s organizational and operating structures, internal systems, and functional areas, as well as the impact of critical external entities on an organization.
- Ability to integrate and apply knowledge to anticipate problems and assess the impact of proposed solutions on various organizational areas.
- Ability to effectively cultivate and maintain effective communications with, negotiate with, and influence high-level and diverse contacts inside and outside of the CSU system.
- Demonstrated ability to perform the functions of the position including assessing user needs, project management, problem solving, troubleshooting, and providing training related to assistive technology is needed
- Commitment to maintaining a welcoming and inclusive work environment with diverse colleagues and constituents including faculty, students, staff, and members of the community.

Preferred Qualifications
- Associate’s Degree in a related field and at least 30 hours of assistive technology education/training and 5-7 years of professional experience where the primary focus is providing assistive technology services to students.
- Bachelor’s Degree in Rehabilitation Sciences or similar field along with the following:
- 1,500 professional or practicum hours CA TVI Credential, or equivalent, or a Graduate Certificate or above in Assistive Technology, Rehabilitation Sciences, or related field, or 10 hours of assistive technology training and 2000 professional/practicum hours
- 3 – 5 years of experiencing directly providing assistive technology services to students
