Role Overview
We are seeking a skilled and experienced Nutanix / VMware Administrator (Windows Systems focused) to join our contract IT team in the Bronx, NY. The ideal candidate will have 5–7 years of hands-on experience managing Windows environments, virtualization platforms, and supporting SQL Server systems in mid-to-large-scale enterprise environments.
This role requires strong technical expertise, excellent troubleshooting skills, and the ability to collaborate with cross-functional teams and stakeholders.
Key Responsibilities
- Administer, maintain, and optimize Windows Server environments (2016/2019/2022)
- Manage Active Directory, Group Policy, DNS, DHCP, and Windows patching
- Support and maintain VMware, Hyper-V, and Nutanix virtualization platforms
- Monitor system performance and troubleshoot hardware, software, and network issues
- Implement and support backup/recovery solutions and disaster recovery plans
- Install, configure, and maintain Microsoft SQL Server environments
- Write and optimize SQL queries and scripts for automation and reporting
- Develop and maintain PowerShell scripts for system automation
- Maintain system security, including system hardening and vulnerability management
- Collaborate with development teams, customers, and adjacent technical teams
- Produce and maintain technical documentation for configurations and change controls
- Follow ITIL best practices and change management procedures
Required Qualifications
- 5–7 years of experience in Windows Systems Administration
- Strong hands-on experience with VMware and Nutanix virtualization
- Experience with Microsoft SQL Server (installation, maintenance, performance tuning)
- Proficiency in PowerShell scripting
- Strong experience with Active Directory and Windows infrastructure services
- Solid understanding of network fundamentals (TCP/IP, firewalls, VPNs)
- Strong troubleshooting, analytical, and problem-solving skills
- Excellent communication and collaboration abilities
- Customer-focused mindset and attention to detail
Nice to Have
- Experience with Hyper-V
- Knowledge of ITIL processes
- Experience with backup and DR tools
- Exposure to vulnerability management tools
Preferred Certifications
- Microsoft Certified: Windows Hybrid Server Administrator
- Microsoft Certified: Administrator Associate
- CompTIA Security (or equivalent)
Education
- Bachelor’s Degree (preferred)
