What are the responsibilities and job description for the Technology Support Specialist position at Canyon Independent School District?
Primary Purpose:
Facilitate, implement, and provide advanced end-user technical support of technology systems district-wide. Respond to requests for assistance from faculty, staff, and Technology staff regarding end-user computer software, hardware and network systems.
Qualifications:
Education/Certification:
Bachelor’s degree preferred
Special Knowledge/Skills:
Knowledge of computer workstation setup
Knowledge of computer hardware and software applications
Ability to install, maintain and repair computers and peripherals, including
printers, interactive whiteboards, projectors, and scanners
Ability to install and maintain network cables and hardware
Ability to diagnose advanced computer problems
Ability to perform complex computer repairs
Strong communication and interpersonal skills
Ability to help resolve problems in a professional, congenial manner
Experience:
One year experience installing, troubleshooting and repairing personal computer and networking systems
Major Responsibilities and Duties:
- Provide level-two technical support for end-users and end-user devices as directed by the Chief Technology Officer and the Technology Support Coordinator.
- Install licensed software programs as required and as licensed by the Software Support Administrator.
- Record service requests into the district work order system.
- Document reports of inappropriate use of equipment, as requested.
- Assist in CISD staff development training programs, as required.
- Record and maintain inventory of all technology-related equipment.
- Stay current with advances in the computer technology industry.
- Enjoy working with people and technology.
- Support technology in the classroom in a timely manner utilizing the available support tools and by using innovative and emerging technologies throughout the district.
- Perform repairs, as needed, to maintain clean, operable equipment.
- Perform necessary management of computers and printers following normal procedures including beginning and closing-of-year procedures.
- Keep informed of innovations in computer and networking technology.
- Maintain confidentiality of information.
- Exemplify high standards of ethical conduct according to District Policy.
- Support administrative policy.
- Represent the school system to the community in a positive professional way.
- Maintain a sincere, friendly attitude toward visitors and patrons to ensure communication.
- Perform other duties, as assigned.
Mental Demands/Physical Demands/Environmental Factors
Requires working in a cooperative, assisting manner with all district staff. Requires lifting (up to 40 lbs.), stooping, bending. Requires frequent travel to various campuses and locations within CISD.
