Job Description: Pond Cove Elementary is a large, high-performing K–4 school serving over 550 students and supported by more than 90 dedicated staff members. We hold ourselves to high standards of academic excellence and professionalism and are seeking a positive, hard-working, and effective educator with high expectations for themselves and their students to join our third-grade team for the 2025–2026 school year.
This long-term substitute position covers the full 2025–2026 academic year. The successful candidate will begin the year by co-teaching with the third-grade teacher who will be going on leave, then assume full responsibility for the classroom starting around November and continue through the end of the school year. They will join a collaborative team of six other third-grade teachers (seven total) and be responsible for planning, delivering, and assessing engaging, hands-on instruction across all core subjects: reading, writing, math, science, and social studies.
Pond Cove’s third-grade curriculum is currently anchored in the Lucy Calkins Units of Study for Reading and Writing, Bridge to Reading, and Everyday Mathematics. Experience with these programs is preferred, but not required. The position also includes student supervision duties (e.g., recess and lunch) and collaborative work with colleagues across multiple disciplines, including school counselors, social workers, special educators, extended learning staff, and building administrators.
