Role Overview:
This role focuses on enhancing the stability, performance, and reliability of mainframe batch job processes. The ideal candidate will analyze existing systems, identify opportunities for improvement, and implement robust solutions using COBOL and CoolGen. A key aspect of the role involves improving job monitoring capabilities and collaborating with cross-functional teams to ensure seamless operations.
Key Responsibilities:
- Analyze and document current batch job processes to identify inefficiencies.
- Design and implement stabilization strategies to improve system reliability.
- Develop and enhance mainframe applications using COBOL and CoolGen.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to improve job monitoring and alerting mechanisms.
- Support ongoing maintenance and troubleshooting of mainframe systems.
- Ensure performance optimization and adherence to best practices in batch processing.
Required Skills & Qualifications:
- Strong proficiency in COBOL and CoolGen development.
- Solid understanding of mainframe batch processing and architecture.
- Experience with job scheduling and monitoring tools (e.g., CA-7, Control-M, etc.).
- Analytical mindset with a focus on system performance and reliability.
- Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
- Ability to work independently and in a team-oriented environment.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience in large-scale enterprise environments.
- Familiarity with ITIL practices and incident management.
- Knowledge of performance tuning and capacity planning.
