Job Summary: The RC Assistant is responsible for providing basic respiratory care services to pediatric, adolescent, adult and geriatric patients. The RC Assistant implements general respiratory care procedures to include; oxygen/humidity therapy, aerosol therapy, chest PT, medication nebulizers, IPPB, ABGs and other non-critical respiratory care procedures. The individual may not deliver mechanical ventilation or conduct invasive monitoring.
Minimum Requirements: . Active enrollment in the second year curriculum of an approved respiratory care associate degree program. Current BLS Certification. Able to demonstrate the knowledge and skills necessary to provide care appropriate to the age of the patients served. The individual must demonstrate knowledge of the principles of growth and development over the life span and posses the ability to assess data reflective of the patient’s status and interpret the appropriate information needed to identify each patient’s requirements relative to his/her age specific needs, and to provide the care needed as described in the department’s policies and procedures
