What are the responsibilities and job description for the Advocate Supervisor position at CASA of Berks County?
We are looking for a full-time Advocate Supervisor to train and support volunteer court advocates for child victims of abuse and neglect. The primary job responsibility is supporting each volunteer as they take on their case, interacting with judges, caseworkers, doctors, foster parents, schools, bio parents, etc.; helping the volunteer engage with their child; and advising volunteers on reporting to the judge. You must possess excellent writing skills to edit court reports and coach volunteers to improve their court reporting. Previous Experience in child welfare or foster care is a plus. Must value volunteer service delivery, prior experience with volunteers a plus. Familiarity with diverse backgrounds is a plus.
Responsibilities
· Participate in training volunteers during formal training sessions and on the job.
· Ensure volunteers deliver personal advocacy services for each child. Ensures advocacy efforts meet agency and national standards.
· Assess the strengths and weaknesses of volunteers to match volunteers with children needing advocacy.
· Attend court hearings with each of the volunteers on your caseload.
· Resolve relationship issues between the volunteer and the stakeholders of the volunteer’s case as needed.
· Communicate frequently with volunteers to ensure they are comfortable and succeeding with their assignment
· Keep detailed records of volunteers’ information and assignments
· Ensure volunteers submit reports as required, and that court reports are of high quality and on time.
Skills
· Experience in volunteering locally or internationally
· Experience working with abused or neglected children
· Working knowledge of databases and MS Office
· Excellent writing skills.
· Able to communicate effectively with diverse people
· Excellent organizational and team coordination abilities
· A pleasant, outgoing personality
· AA degree or higher preferred
· Bilingual Spanish a plus
