What are the responsibilities and job description for the Speech Pathologist position at Cass Regional Medical Center?
Primary Purpose: Evaluation of patient performance and progress; treatment of rehab patient exhibiting speech, language, cognitive, and swallowing deficits; communication of evaluation and treatment results; family and staff training; documentation of evaluation and treatment results; and program development as assigned.
Formal Policy-Setting Responsibilities: Formally responsible for providing input into policies associated with the job's purpose and essential responsibilities.
Routine Decision Making: Prioritizes by identifying more critical and less critical activities and tasks; adjusts priorities when appropriate.
Required Knowledge: Demonstrates and practices patient equipment and other environment of care safety and protocols. Demonstrates functional knowledge and insight of swallowing, including anatomy and physiology of a swallowing mechanism.
Required Skills and Ability: The tools and equipment required to perform the essential functions of this job include office equipment, pure-tone audiometer, computer and related hardware and software, specialized clinical materials specific to the assessment and treatment of speech/language disabilities and disorders.
Education and Certification/ Registration Required for the Position: Masters degree. Knowledge/Professional
Licensure/Registration/Certification: Missouri State Licensure, Certificate of Clinical Competence (CCC) or be eligible for clinical fellowship. One year work experience or clinical internship in acute care rehab is required. Experience in video swallows preferred.
Age Specific Competencies: Provides care for pediatric/child patients (3 yrs-6 yrs); child (7yrs -11 yrs); adolescent patients between 12 to 18 years of age; adult patients between 18 to 64 years; and geriatric patients 65 years and older.
