Key Responsibilities
Job Development & Employer Engagement
- Develop and maintain employment opportunities through outreach to private and public employers via phone, email, face-to-face meetings, and presentations
- Use all available resources—such as online job boards, community bulletins, Michigan Works!, and employment agencies—to identify job leads
- Initiate and sustain long-term relationships with employers to support refugee hiring and retention
- Conduct outreach and presentations to educate employers on the benefits of hiring refugees
- Advocate for client job upgrades and wage increases where appropriate
- Collaborate closely with Case Managers, the Job Development Coordinator, and other program staff to match clients with appropriate job opportunities and address individual client needs
- Assist in refugee-focused professional development and training activities as needed
- Provide job leads to case management staff through regular updates and bi-weekly team meetings
- Deliver required reports to MDHHS, including job claims, 4785Rs, and RFSSPs
- Generate and distribute 2-week, 90-day, and 180-day case note tracking lists to Case Managers as needed
- Accurately track employer contacts and job development activities using CCIEC and MDHHS-approved documentation systems
- Case note all job development activities and client interactions in accordance with agency standards
- Monitor and support contract compliance for employment-related grants
- Assist in preparing and submitting required program and grant reports
- Attend and actively participate in staff meetings, employment team meetings, and meetings with external partners such as DHHS, CAMW, and ORS
- Represent the agency and program in a professional and respectful manner, maintaining appropriate appearance and conduct at all times
- Participate in agency trainings, conferences, and in-services as deemed appropriate
- Education: Minimum possession of a four-year undergraduate degree (Bachelor’s Degree) with or without experience.
- Experience:
- Bilingual skills strongly preferred
- Prior case management experience in the social services field is highly desirable
- Experience working with individuals from cultures outside the United States
- Demonstrated empathy for, and understanding of, the refugee experience and associated challenges
- Proficiency in basic computer applications, including Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint)
- Minimum of two years of experience in community outreach or professional networking
- Proven ability to recruit and retain participants or employers
- Flexibility to work outside of standard agency/program hours as needed to fulfill job responsibilities
- Required Licenses, Certifications, and Training: Must possess a valid Michigan driver’s license, have consistent access to reliable transportation, and maintain active automobile insurance coverage.
