Summary of Essential Job Duties:
The Research Program Administrator (RPA) will be responsible for overseeing the development and preparation of investigator projects that arise from science initiatives that are high priority to the mission and goals of the Cedars-Sinai Cancer (CSC). The RPA will manage staff and the programmatic project initiatives as assigned by CSCC leadership. The RPA will work closely with the Cancer Biobank Scientific Director to assist with operational management of staff and projects. The incumbent will provide guidance, technical expertise, evaluate project processes and makes recommendations for improvement. The incumbent will be a dedicated professional with strong project management and interpersonal skills who is enthusiastic and is able to take initiative. The ability to multi-task, meet deadlines, work effectively with scientists, professionals, administrators, and support personnel is essential. Plans and assigns projects, monitors work, and identifies issues/problems, and makes plans to resolve problems. Supervises Cancer Biobank operational staff and manages laboratory facility space. Supervises collection, processing and storage of biological samples. Writes standard operating procedures (SOPs) for the procurement, processing and storage of biospecimens. Responsible for managing assigned cancer research projects and managing associated activities in regulated working environment. Writes and records controlled documents for assigned projects. Coordinates and assists quality control team with all required testing activities. Provides excellent communication and must have a thorough understanding of laboratory and research functions to ensure the success of projects. Reviews and remains current on literature as it relates to clinical/research biobanking and biospecimen research practices. May develop hypotheses and assist in planning steps for the investigative process. Experience with cancer-focused NIH grants will be an advantage, including multi-PI grants, as well as project management and administrative support of new scientific initiatives is preferred.
