General Description:
The coordinated specialty care program is an exciting team-based program designed to provide early intervention services for individuals with first episode psychosis between the ages of 15 - 30. The Coordinated Specialty Care (CSC) Peer Specialist is responsible for providing peer mentoring, education, and support to individuals who are receiving mental health services and their families. The peer provider should have at least one cumulative year of receiving mental health services for a disorder that is treated in the target population. Peer providers are active members of the treatment team: providing individual and/or group services, whole health interventions, assess strengths of the individual, engage in social educational, vocational, behavioral, and cognitive interventions that address needs in the individual’s ability to develop and maintain social relationships, occupational or educational achievement, independent living skills and housing as a result of a severe and persistent mental illness. Peer providers provide peer mentoring and support to consumers; model self-advocacy skills; provide information, referral, and non-clinical skills training- unless credentialled; maintain individual engagement; and assist in identifying resources. This service includes interventions to facilitate recovery and documentation of the provision of all peer provider services.
Work requires intervention and frequent in-person long-term contact with individuals, families, and service providers. The incumbent will work closely with clients and must be able to lift 45 pounds. The work environment is such as to require sitting, walking, lifting, bending, and the full range of physical and mental activities normally associated with care giving. Prefer experience working with individuals with disabilities is preferred. Work schedule may require flexible hours. This position requires the use of a Center vehicle.
Qualifications:
Current Certified Peer Support Specialist having experience working with people with mental disabilities is preferred. Must meet the Certified Peer Support Specialist (CPSP) requirements.
The Center for Life Resources prefers its applicants live in or are willing to move to the 7-county catchment area within 90 days of their hire date. Our catchment area includes the counties of Brown, Eastland, Coleman, Comanche, San Saba, Mills and McCulloch.
