Position Overview

Complete all organizational client and patient billing, which includes, but limited to, Behavioral Health, Substance Abuse and Primary Care. Perform a variety of routine and non-routine clerical duties requiring knowledge of insurance billing procedures and guidelines. 

Job Duties

  1. Prepare and submit billing for all programs through an electronic billing system. 
  2. Reviews billing reports for accuracy, timeliness, denials, and revenue leakage. 
  3. Works denials and the Software firewall as assigned by the Coder/Biller. 
  4. Responsible for service “back-end” billing entries for a variety of services. 
  5. Performs or assists management with miscellaneous reports/projects as needed. 

Minimum Qualifications

  1. Two-year AA degree in Registered Health Information Technician (RHIT) and two years’ experience as a biller OR equivalent in education and experience is required. 
  2. Demonstrated understanding of medical coding and billing is essential for this position. 
  3. Prefer to have CPC (Certified Professional Coder), CCS (Certified Coding Specialist), CPB (Certified Professional Biller), COC (Certified Outpatient Coder) or RHIT (Registered Health Information Technician) certification. 
  4. Familiarity with medical billing software programs. 
  5. Computer literacy skills, especially with MS Excel and intermediate data entry and computation. 
  6. Analytical skills with a keen sense of organization and detail. 
  7. Proven time management skills and ability to work under strict deadlines. 
  8. Respect confidentiality of information laws and local ethics. 
  9. Experience with Cerner billing software is a plus.
