Position Overview
Complete all organizational client and patient billing, which includes, but limited to, Behavioral Health, Substance Abuse and Primary Care. Perform a variety of routine and non-routine clerical duties requiring knowledge of insurance billing procedures and guidelines.
Job Duties
- Prepare and submit billing for all programs through an electronic billing system.
- Reviews billing reports for accuracy, timeliness, denials, and revenue leakage.
- Works denials and the Software firewall as assigned by the Coder/Biller.
- Responsible for service “back-end” billing entries for a variety of services.
- Performs or assists management with miscellaneous reports/projects as needed.
Minimum Qualifications
- Two-year AA degree in Registered Health Information Technician (RHIT) and two years’ experience as a biller OR equivalent in education and experience is required.
- Demonstrated understanding of medical coding and billing is essential for this position.
- Prefer to have CPC (Certified Professional Coder), CCS (Certified Coding Specialist), CPB (Certified Professional Biller), COC (Certified Outpatient Coder) or RHIT (Registered Health Information Technician) certification.
- Familiarity with medical billing software programs.
- Computer literacy skills, especially with MS Excel and intermediate data entry and computation.
- Analytical skills with a keen sense of organization and detail.
- Proven time management skills and ability to work under strict deadlines.
- Respect confidentiality of information laws and local ethics.
- Experience with Cerner billing software is a plus.
