What are the responsibilities and job description for the Health Unit Coordinator position at CentraCare?
48 hours every two weeks; variable days during the week; 12 hours shifts working 7p.m.-7:30a.m., every 3rd weekend, rotating holidays. A total of 4 shifts every two weeks!
As a Health Unit Coordinator (HUC) you will serve as a vital role in being the communication for the Emergency Department. You will provide clerical support for the Emergency Department through communication, maintenance of medical records, and high-quality customer service! You will be responsible for greeting and assisting patients/families, guests, and providers. You will also manage the phones and organize and maintain patient charts, and perform clerical and receptionist duties associated with patient care unit operations.
The HUC is the glue that coordinates between the patient, family, physicians and nurses!
What you'll have:
- Completion of a hospital unit secretary program (or willingness to obtain within 1 year of employment) preferred.
- Previous experience or recent education with office procedures preferred.
- Medical Terminology strongly preferred.
- Self directed.
- Ability to multi-task.
- Ability to read and communicate effectively in English.
- Strong written and verbal skills.
- Strong interpersonal human relations skills.
Pay:
- Starting pay at $16.96/hr - more with experience.

- 25-bed critical access hospital including Birthing Center, Medical/Surgical Unit, Pediatrics, ICU, and Same Day Surgery Services.
- 10-bed Acute Inpatient Rehabilitation Unit.
- Extensive Outpatient Services: Level IV Emergency Department with ambulance service, Heart Care, Surgical Services, Sleep Center, Diabetes & Nutrition Education, Integrated Behavioral Health, Vascular Care, and Wound Care.
- Full Imaging, Laboratory Services, and Respiratory Therapy.
