What are the responsibilities and job description for the Arts & Crafts Director - YMCA Camp Hi-Rock position at CENTRAL CONNECTICUT COAST YOUNG MENS CHRISTIAN ASSOCIATION INC?
The Arts and Crafts Director will plan for and effectively lead all aspects of the arts and crafts program. The Arts and Crafts Director will provide a safe and nurturing environment for campers and staff and will be actively involved and have a positive attitude about all camp activities.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
- Actively participate in and lead portions of Administrative Staff Training and All Staff Training.
- Inform the Inclusion Specialist and/or Camp Director of any camper or staff problems, issues, or concerns.
- Ensure staff are enforcing and following all rules and are fulfilling all assigned duties in the arts program.
- Correct and document, as necessary, situations that endanger the emotional or physical safety of any person.
- Plan and oversee creation and implementation of various arts classes for a variety of skill levels.
- Provide arts and crafts supplies, ideas, and guidance for staff and campers during Cabin/Unit Activities, Siesta, General Swim, Twilight Fun, and other events as appropriate or as assigned.
- Conduct daily checks to ensure arts and crafts area is clean, safe, and stocked with equipment and supplies.
- Order equipment and supplies as needed, including materials for Rocketry (when/if offered).
- Complete or submit requests for repairs for any equipment and keep an inventory of all supplies.
- Assist Day Camp Staff with arts and crafts ideas and guidance.
- Create lesson plans and monitor teaching quality of staff assigned to arts classes.
- Plan for rainy day arts projects in advance of their need.
- Implement a check out and return system for supplies.
- Participate in Twilight Fun and Evening Program once a week and Administrator on Duty as assigned.
- Demonstrate and teach the values of caring, honesty, respect, and responsibility to all campers and staff.
- Follow all camp rules and regulations and enforce them among peers.
- Maintain positive public relations with parents, visitors, and the general public at all times.
- Submit all required paperwork and an End of the Year Report on time.
- Perform other duties and provide unit coverage as assigned.
