What does a Clinical Trainee do?
The Clinical Trainee reports to the leadership team to offer additional support to staff while taking lead on higher-needs cases and co-facilitating program services. Primary job duties include direct clinical support (individual, group, family, & crisis counseling) and supervision of clients, program implementation, and youth worker collaboration. The Clinical Trainee is responsible for supporting an atmosphere that is conducive to teamwork, self-care and a productive work environment. This position reports directly to the Youth and Family Services Residential Manager and is under the direct supervision of a contracted Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist.
- Maintain and oversee a therapeutic milieu that promotes youth and family resilience, healthy engagement, and personal growth
- Perform direct client contact duties via fact to face, telehealth, group, family, couples, crisis, and rehab session
- Lead daily structured therapeutic group activities to promote positive youth development and trauma-informed care
- Support data collection to ensure client records and documentation is accurate, up-to-date, and confidential
- Utilize program assessments and screening tools in collaboration with each youth to inform priorities of the individual service plan and make appropriate internal and external referrals for services
- Participate in clinical supervision; minimum of one weekly individual, triadic, or group supervision unit for each intern/trainee (more as needed based on hours)
- Support with daily supervision of youth including meal preparation, transportation to medical appointments, scheduled outings, and uphold the daily schedule
- Perform intensive case management tasks to enhance their education, vocation, relationships and communication, independent living skills, physical health, mental health, and more
- Demonstrate clear and professional boundaries by regularly using discretion and seeking support from administrative and clinical supervisors as it pertains to youth, clients, or staff
- Provide supervision and direction of activities for youth that supports healthy living, social responsibility, and youth leadership
- Maintain a controlled and safe environment for youth, assist with daily cleaning/sanitization and organization of work space areas
Qualifications
- Must be at least 21 years old
- Bachelor’s Degree required
- 2 years related work experience
- At least one year of experience with individual/group/team mediation and conflict resolution
- Complete required certifications within 30 days of hire
- Complete all required Branch and Position specific trainings as required within two weeks of hire
- Health Screening Report and negative TB test required prior to first day of employment
- Ability to obtain a criminal record clearance
- Ability to participate in DMV Pull Program preferred
