Preferred Qualifications:
- Orders, maintains, and secures the inventory of equipment and supplies, and places special orders.
- Inventories items including uniforms, duty gear, portable radios, guns, body armor, badges and other equipment.
- Maintains a supply of general office materials, including print cartridges, toners, batteries and other miscellaneous items.
- Orders, stocks, and maintains forms.
- Ensures all inventory is properly stored and secured.
- Works with newly hired officers/staff to establish uniform and duty gear needs and instructs officers about what items they are authorized to order on-line.
- Writes specifications and obtains bids for larger expenditures such as equipment and uniforms and attends pre-bid conferences.
- Frequently interacts with vendors to obtain quotes and exchange detailed and/or technical information for department equipment and supplies.
- Requests equipment for test and evaluation for possible purchase, assists in the evaluation of products and supplies, and obtains management approval for new lines of goods.
- Oversees storage of unused inventory.
- Assists administrative staff with equipment and supply budget administration.
- Analyzes past expenditures, expected needs, and future cost projections to develop detailed input into equipment budget development.
- Typically picks up and delivers office supplies and may pick up and deliver equipment to the central garage.
- Arranges for the service, repair, and maintenance of department equipment.
- Coordinates the installation of equipment in police vehicles with the appropriately designated installer.
- Tracks equipment warranty and service schedules and arranges for replacement, service or repair.
- Ensures biohazard cleaning is done for officer uniforms, equipment, and vehicles.
- May perform minor repairs on equipment and clothing.
- Maintains storeroom and work areas in neat and orderly condition.
- Coordinates police facility security systems, to include changing door locks and other building security features.
- Works with the lock company to ensure key control and security.
- Maintains a listing of serial numbers for building keys issued and the core/locks corresponding to keys.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
- Bachelor’s Degree in Inventory Management, Accounting, Business Management, Public Administration, or closely related field; and
- At least two (2) years of administrative support experience involving the recording and dissemination of information, property storage responsibility, asset management/inventory, or related experience; or
- Any equivalent combination of education, training, and experience.
- Must possess and maintain a valid driver’s license.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Supervisory experience.
- Experience with computers and inventory management systems.
- Basic bookkeeping experience.
