Chatham County, GA Government is seeking a skilled Senior Building Maintenance Supervisor to oversee building and grounds maintenance operations. This position requires strong leadership, technical expertise, and the ability to manage a team responsible for maintaining public facilities.
- Plans, directs, evaluates, coordinates, supervises and provides instruction to maintenance workers, maintenance mechanics, custodians, community service workers, repairs and modifications of building mechanical systems, and equipment and grounds.
- Assists in the preparation of specifications for maintenance materials, equipment and repairs.
- Inspects work to ensure compliance with specifications.
- Assists with requisitioning, supplies, approvals, and invoices.
- Maintains inventory control of commonly used supplies.
- Operates light weight motor vehicles.
- Performs other work as requested.
- High School Diploma or GED, and
- At least five (5) years of journeyperson level experience in the installation, maintenance, and repair of mechanical systems with increasingly responsible supervisory experience; or
- Any equivalent combination of training and experience.
- Must have experience in the operation and maintenance of facilities grounds and all equipment necessary to perform ground maintenance duties.
- Must possess a valid driver’s license.
- Must possess knowledge of operations of heating, electrical, plumbing, ventilating equipment and systems commonly used in public buildings.
- Must be able to read and interpret plans and specifications, and to read/draw blueprints and sketches.
- Must be able to estimate costs and quantities of labor, material and equipment.
- Must be able to prepare and maintain accurate reports and records.
- Must be able to utilize a variety of computer applications including Microsoft Office.
- Must be available for on-call duty during non-working hours, holidays, and weekends and use personal transportation to respond.
- Must be physically able to sit, stand, walk, kneel, crouch, stoop, squat, twist, climb and lift 50 lbs.
- Must be able to understand and follow written and oral directions.
