The Infection Prevention Nurse works Monday - Friday (Days) and coordinates with the infection prevention team, physicians, nurses, ancillary staff and the hospitals efforts to prevent and control the spread of infectious disease within the facility by following Evidenced Based Practices and guidelines issued by the Arkansas Department of Health, CMS, and other licensing, accrediting or regulatory bodies.

Your skills learned at the bedside will form the foundation for this role. We can teach the right candidate how to use data to drive best practices in evidence-based care.

Daily job responsibilities include:

Daily monitoring central line and urinary catheter utilization and infection prevention strategies.

Observes and assesses patient care activities related to central lines and urinary catheters.

Working and collaborating with multidisciplinary teams.

Working with the Infection Control program related to the CVL and urinary catheter service lines to include collection of data, recordkeeping of hospital acquired infections, interpretation, analysis, and reporting of information, development of interventions and recommendations related to follow up on performance.

Investigate and analyze clusters or changes in patterns of infection with appropriate interventions.

Establish and maintain communication between infection control, nursing units and ancillary departments for the purpose of problem solving; utilizes appropriate lines of communication within the department.

Communicates and interfaces with hospital personnel and medical staff to ensure high-quality patient care.

Provide training for evidence based practices related to patient care activities, for example: central line and urinary catheter care.

Bachelors Degree prepared Registered Nurse from a qualified, nationally-accredited program.

1 year of acute care nursing experience is required, infection control or epidemiology experience is preferred. We will train the right person.

Active Registered Nurse license in good standing with the AR Board of Nursing, or compact state.

Certification by the National Board of Infection Control (CIC) within 3 years of employment
