Position Summary: Children's Aid (CA) After School in Action Program at IS 318, funded by OST (Out of School Time) is an after school enrichment program operating Monday through Friday, from 2:00pm to 5:30pm. The program offers tutorial help for students with their homework, additional educational instruction, and the opportunity to engage in an array of enriching sports and art based activities.
Essential Duties:
- Supervision and care of (up to) 20 children, which comprise a group or club.
- Modeling and demonstrates positive characteristics and traits of a good leader that participants can learn from.
- Supervise and provide guidance to on the day to day activities.
- Provide individual and group tutoring in areas such as reading, writing, mathematics, and study skills.
- Develop classroom and behavioral management skills.
- Implement professionally developed literacy-based curriculum.
- Build relationships with children and their families.
- Plan and lead the implementation of special projects in and out of program.
- Produce lesson plans, teach, supervise, and organize games.
- Assists in activities or tasks necessary to ensure an orderly operation of the program.
- Supervise children during meals (lunch and dinner)
- Ensure equipment is properly signed out and that all equipment is properly cleaned and returned.
- Attend regular staff meetings, trainings and work cooperatively with other staff members in the program and in the schools.
Minimum Qualifications:
- At least one year of experience working with children, tutoring, or teaching.
Key Competencies:
- Available from September 1st through June 21, 2024.
- Expected to be punctual, responsible, have a positive attitude and provide encouragement to children.
- Pursing an Associate's Degree or Bachelor's Degree
