Cimarron is seeking senior-level Architects to support the Engineering and Manufacturing Development (EMD) phase of the Sentinel (formally GBSD) program in Ogden, UT. Cimarron provides engineering and technical support to Bechtel for the design, construction, and integration of the Sentinel launch systems at locations to include Vandenberg AFB, CA, F.E. Warren AFB, WY, Malmstrom AFB, MT, and Minot AFB, ND. Sentinel is a vital US Air Force program that will recapitalize the nation's aging ground-based leg of the nuclear triad - the Minuteman III Intercontinental Ballistic Missile (ICBM). This is an onsite position.
Key Duties:
- Prepare original architectural design layouts, details, drawings, and specifications for buildings, including plans, schedules, elevations, sections, details, etc.
- Conduct or coordinate detailed phases of the architectural work.
- Understand and perform the standard architectural work, including planning, scheduling, and the job hour estimating process.
- Monitor and ensure compliance with quality requirements.
- Review and check the work of other architects as assigned.
- Supervise, coordinate, provide technical direction, and assign work to subordinate architects and designers.
- Coordinate and integrate design work between the architectural discipline and other engineering disciplines.
- Review and approve key design documents, supplier drawings and data, material specifications, drawings, and change orders.
- Prepare procurement and subcontract requisition documents and perform associated technical bid evaluations with award recommendations.
- Prepare or assist in the preparation of cost estimates and quantity take-offs for architectural elements.
- Resolve technical issues with customers and construction.
Required Skills, Experience, and Education:
- Due to facility security requirements, only U.S. citizens are eligible for consideration at this time.
- Ability to obtain a Secret clearance.
- Registered Architect in the United States or ability to attain within 12 months of hire.
- 9 or more years of related experience.
- Experience with architectural design, production techniques, building materials, construction methods, and the development of project deliverables.
- Understanding of technical issues and costs related to the selection of design features and unique architectural requirements.
Proficient with the practices and procedures of NFPA, IBC, and UFCs. - Experience performing code reviews and generating code compliance reports/drawings.
- Skilled in verbal and written communication
- Ability to communicate complex technical issues and recommend solutions.
- Demonstrated graphic presentation skills.
- Understanding of engineering planning and control methods.
- Experience producing a full, well-coordinated, and detailed set of architectural construction documents.
- Experience coordinating a multi-discipline design team.
- Proficiency with the Autodesk design suite (e.g. Autodesk Revit, AutoCAD) to originate 3D model content and produce design deliverables in a multidisciplinary model environment.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications and Sketchup.
Desired Skills, Experience, and Education:
- Active Secret clearance.
- Experience with developing CSI MasterFormat specifications or SpecsIntact.
- Current U.S. professional registration.
- Knowledge of the principles of Systems Engineering.
- Necessary skills to present on technical subjects with competence and confidence.
- Experience in the design of DOD or DOE projects.
- Master’s degree in Architecture from an accredited course of study.
