An Engineering Support Technician III regularly performs the most difficult and complex subprofessional, technical functions in general support of professional engineering activities; exercises judgment and initiative in following through on assigned tasks; may supervise lower level technicians; and performs other related duties as required.

This position performs difficult and complex technical functions in support of professional engineering activities including database management of existing street lights, maintaining inventory of all City equipment on jointly owned utility poles with HECO, review and approve trenching permits in City roads, gathering as-built data for CIP projects, and emergency response planning.

Desirable Experience: Extensive computer/database management skills.

- An associate's degree from a regionally-accredited college or university in Engineering Technology or Natural Sciences will substitute for two of the required five years of experience.
- A bachelor's degree in Engineering, or in a Biological or Physical Science will substitute for three of the required five years of experience.
Education obtained outside of the United States must be comparable to a degree earned at a regionally-accredited college/university in the United States. In order to receive credit for the education, a foreign credential evaluation (FCE) must be provided.
