The Department of Design and Construction has one (1) vacancy for Engineering Support Technician III in Honolulu. This position performs difficult and complex technical functions in support of professional engineering activities including database management of existing street lights, maintaining inventory of all City equipment on jointly owned utility poles with HECO, review and approve trenching permits in City roads, gathering as-built data for CIP projects, and emergency response planning.

- Assisting with the development and use of GIS-based conflict resolution software to identify and resolve potential construction scheduling conflicts.
- Monitoring and resolving data accuracy and software functionality to identify and report potential project conflicts.
- Assisting with compiling project status data from project managers, including project schedules, tracking projects experiencing delays, and tracking closure of completed projects.
- Coordinating with staff to produce various CIP reports and maps, as required, and to export CIP data to other users for purposes of coordination, mapping, and related activities.
- Performing other duties and responsibilities of the position.

- Surveying existing and potential industrial and commercial generators of wastewater as required by the Revised Ordinances of Honolulu and applicable State and Federal pretreatment rules and regulations.
- Reviewing and processing Industrial Wastewater Discharge Permit (IWDP) applications, identifying possible Significant Industrial Users, and assigning appropriate Standard Industrial Classification codes and pretreatment devices.
- Organizing and maintaining database for IUS and IWDPs including enforcement related tasks as it relates to surveying and permitting.
- Coordinating and conducting events, exhibits, and outreach programs for public awareness on pretreatment and source control issues.
- Performing and supporting engineering and administrative support related tasks and projects as assigned.
